James tells us that religion that is pure before God is "to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." Yet attempts to care for the physical needs of people have often been seen as something opposed to a biblical focus on God. This seminar will seek to explain why the two are not opposed but inextricably bound together.
